As part of The Big Mummy Blog Share this week I am featuring a fellow mummy blogger!
Meet Denise from Mum on a Mission for a Better Life She is a mummy blogger from Suffolk.
When did you start your blog?
July 2013 – although I have not been consistent until the start of this year.
Why did you decide to start blogging?
I had been unwell for around seven years with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and I was at a point where I was feeling better, but life was in a bit of a mess. I decided to start blogging to help others who wanted to make changes and improve their lives for themselves and therefore their families while I was sorting out mine.
What has been your favourite blog to write?
This is hard as I love writing about anything, so there are so many to choose from. Now that I am home educating my daughter, I really enjoy writing posts about that as I hope that they are helping to inspire other home educators.
What has been your most successful blog?
Going by the pageviews in comparison to how long it has been published for, I am actually surprised that my most successful post is a post which I wrote about Geocaching. https://mumonamissionforabetterlife.co.uk/geocaching
What is your favourite thing about being a mum blogger?
I will have an ever-lasting record of my kids and our life together.
What is your least favourite thing about being a mum blogger?
A lot of the opportunities to work with companies only want to work with parents who have young children, so it limits what I can do as my youngest is 11 years old now.
When do you get most of your blogging done?
Evenings, as during the day I home school my daughter and I have a work from home part time job as a customer service advisor too. It can be a struggle to fit everything in.
What is your favourite mummy blog to read?
https://www.frugalfamily.co.uk/ I love reading ‘the diary of a frugal family’ blog by the lovely Cass. It was actually the first blog I ever read, and I love it as Cass blogs about ways to save money so that they can spend the money on having fun together as a family and I love the family focus.
Any tips for anyone thinking about starting a blog
- It is not as easy or glamorous as some people will have you believe, but if you really enjoy writing and want to make it work, then you should go for it.
- Don’t get caught in the trap of comparing your blog to others as everyone is different, we can all offer something good to the table.
- Go self-hosted straight away if you can, I started on Blogger originally and then when I changed to self-hosting, it was really hard getting use to WordPress and transferring everything, so I wish I had self-hosted at the start to save the hassle.
