#project365 – July

July was a quiet month – unfortunate to have 3 weeks off work at home not able to do much.  At least this little project forced me to find something to photograph every day despite doing incredibly little!  Unsurprisingly – given my limited options and due to fabulous weather in the UK, much of my time was spent in the garden with a book.  Needs must…

As a result this meant that some normally mundane things were ever so exciting – like choosing a new fridge/freezer or painting some doors!

Wise words I was given by a senior colleague when I professed my boredom…. ‘you’re signed off work not life’.  That said July was marked by only 2 ‘major’ activities.  We took a trip to London for the finish of the Clipper Round the World yacht race – unsurprisingly we got the full VIP treatment so whilst absolutely shattering 4 days after an operation – there was always a seat and a medicinal glass of fizz nearby.  Unsurprisingly that left me absolutely exhausted and I barely moved from the sofa for 2 days after that… Lesson learned!

The other activity was more for Mr P – he cycled the south downs way in a day for the British Heart Foundation!  I on the other hand dropped him off at 4am, went back to bed and then picked him up from Eastbourne in the evening having had an leisurely drive with the roof down on the car having slept for hours!

Back to work – 600 odd emails to action (having monitored and deleted what I could already).  Strange getting back to work – after 3 and a bit weeks, definitely out of practice – especially with the early starts, commutes and late finishes! But my brain was fully in the game on the first few days – some points raised on my teams work that I was very proud of spotting! One real bit of fun on a weekday was office sports day – and what a glorious day it was too! Sun-tanning in work hours!  And then another weekend of sunshine – sprinkler fun in the garden (no hose pipe ban yet) and a trip to another stunning National Trust property – the Vyne (the best bit of Basingstoke!).

This week I finally found a book bench that happily wasn’t being sat on – a great new initiative all over London, books about town!  This one was found in Waterloo, I think I have 99 more to find…

The month came to an end with a new kitchen!  Long overdue and I have to say I was gobsmacked by just how much work was done by our fitter in 2 days!  Impressive!  We just need to get a new floor now!  The best bit – putting the new fridge freezer into place – this was the smallest of the American spec ones that we could find, but look at it – I actually could get in it!  We’ll work hard to be able to even fill 1/4 of it, but I suspect come Christmas, or the next big dinner party we have that it will really show us how useful it is!!

Signing off another month – and hoping for a much better August!

I’m in the process of a bathroom remodel and what a mess especially when it’s the only bathroom, at least it is still functional….ah home projects seem to be never ending.

It is a bit like going to the beach and sand seemingly being everywhere for months afterwards, but dust isn’t so nice really – it doesn’t give you the holiday memories! Sadly life overtakes and we have to do this boring stuff too!

Looks to me like you had a great month. Finishing up with a brand new kitchen-now that’s an accomplishment to get through!
