This time last year I had not long plucked up the courage to start my own blog – fuelled by the fun of guesting for A Luxury Travel Blog and The Lux Traveller! A year later Penelope and Parker is in full swing and gaining pace and followers. I am having a lot of fun.
So what have I learnt in the last year:
- It isn’t at all weird to go and meet people you know only from the internet – it is actually really good fun and there’s a friendly and supportive community out there to be part of! Be it blogspeak over scones at Brown’s hotel, learning the tricks of the trade at Traverse or invitations to blogger events in fun places! Looking forward to more of this in the coming months! Long live the monthly travel-linkup!
- Self-hosting my site isn’t that hard at all! I lost the ‘wordpress.com’ bit of my site in January and the good people at WordPress Beginner did all the transferring for me thank goodness! I still need to make the site look more professional (it is time for a theme change and perhaps a logo) but I love that it now operates its own name.
- There is always something to write about – I was worried that after the jubilation of completing Project 365 on 31 December 2014 (NEVER again) I wouldn’t have enough content. Thankfully I found ‘Take12Trips‘ which is a fun challenge and work continues to send me here there and everywhere. Plenty to write about.
- My blog is a great thing for small talk – I moved jobs and my interesting fact about me was that I had a blog and immediately that is something to talk to new colleagues about as we get to know each other.
- That instagram is a lot of fun – I always thought it was for teenagers! I get a serious dose of wanderlust every time I go near it, but I love seeing what everyone is up to! It appeals to my ‘nosey-parker’ side! Come and join me?
Greece – I can’t believe that last October was my first visit… loved it. So. Much. We planning a return this September – as yet undecided where. The Peloponnese was stunning but I think it is time to visit an island, the question is which?
Cliveden House – this gorgeous stately home personifies for me what pure hotel luxury is. We were spoilt rotten on our stay. Luxury isn’t always about the opulent and magnificent, but when it is – then go to Cliveden! Cornwall – a well charted love affair, once again we explored new areas this April and found some beautiful and peaceful locations to enjoy! Derry and Donegal– we couldn’t have had worse luck health-wise in Northern Ireland last June but that is how I know that the people of Derry are the kindest and most charming. I would go back in a heartbeat to see more of the green island. As for the scenery – stunning! Sailing in Sardinia – we laughed, we drunk, we partied and we had a darn good time sailing too! Nothing like a bit of champagne sailing to blow away the cobwebs and remind me what I love about yachting! Down time with Mr P and friends – we never get enough of this time but it is marvellous when we do! India on business – granted I saw very little, but when work sent me off and I didn’t want to go, I definitely didn’t expect to come home and start investigating taking a holiday there! What is in store for next year? And on we March into Year 3 – much to look forward to already thankfully. We are off to Boston and Maine in June, Vienna (and its vineyards – believe me the wine is good) in July, we have Cowes week in August and then Greece in September! I hope you’ll come with me!
Congrats on your 2nd year, looks like a wonderful year ahead and you had a fantastic last year, love Greece

Thank you – I am very tempted to head north to Meteora next time, loved your photos from there Noel!
What a fabulous year you’ve had and I’ve enjoyed following along with you. I’ll most definitely be joining you on your adventures to come too. Love Greece and her islands, but which island to start with? That’s a tough one.

Thank you! Time is flying – I am sure you agree!
Congrats Anna and kudos to you for sticking around for 2 years in the travel blogging world. Looking forward in particular to seeing what you get up to in Boston and Maine. We had a great road trip there last year including taking in the Portland Head Light which is a really cool lighthouse overlooking the Atlantic.

Thank you! I LOVE lighthouses – in fact we are staying in an island one called the Inn at Cuckolds. I intend to visit many more – hopefully the one you mentioned too!
Congratulations Anna, and you’ll have an amazing time in Boston – loved my visit there!

I can’t wait to go back – we did a whistlestop tour last time but this visit I want to walk the Freedom Trail and see the sites properly!
Only two years?! It feels like much longer than that, Anna! You seem to manage to pack in so much AND incredibly hold down a full time job at the same time… congrats!
