The wonderful world of travel blogging works because it is a community – there is a lot of support from across the blogging network, many people have helped me on my little journey and already I find myself helping newer newbies that me! Clearly bloggers spend a lot of time reading other blogs – to get inspiration but also because when you find your favourites then chances are they are busy writing about something you would enjoy too! If we’re not out seeing somewhere new then we certainly want to know about other peoples discoveries instead!
So I thought it was high time that I told you about where I go to have a blog-reading binge!! Without further ado:
It is Paul’s ‘fault’ that my little blog is in existence!! Idly looking at amazing places on A Luxury Travel Blog I saw an advert looking for guest writers! I signed up and started writing about places we’d been and loved it, I’m still doing it! ALTB is a fantastic blog – there is inspiration for any country and any type of luxury break, and more besides! My trip research often starts on this website as there is such an extensive selection of ideas and genuine suggestions as Paul has amassed a great group of bloggers alongside his own travels and trips!
If anyone can take the prize for drawing me in to Twitter it was Ana – someone who knows how to use their 140 characters to good effect and just happens to take many amazing trips each year! Great company on twitter, and now instragram, and always off in search of another luxury hotel that needs visiting! Mrs O has me sold on the Maldives and I’m very happy that my own Qasr al Sarab recommendation was well received! One day the two An(n)a’s shall meet!
Around the World in 80 Pairs of Shoes
Finally I met Kelly this January, over afternoon tea of course! I love her blog as we have very similar travel tastes, allergy challenges and also patient husbands that are happy to enjoy our travels with us! Neither of us are fond of folding ourselves into BA’s new Club Europe but it’s worth it for the fact that allergy meals are actually available!! Just this week a US colleague was asking about gluten free dining in London for her family – where else would I turn but to recommend they spend some time on Kelly’s blog!
I came across this luxury site when Marina asked me to guest post. The Lux Traveller visits some incredible places and I’m happy to have been able to enjoy a few myself already. I warn you that the instagram feed of this blog is dangerous – stunning photography and places, it often makes me feel a little chilly in the UK. The reviews on this site are inspiring – many are from Thailand and Australasia and so in places I haven’t even thought about visiting yet – great for inducing wanderlust!
A recent discovery when I wrote a guest blog for Polly I had a good read through past posts and now am an avid follower! Polly is master of the staycation and making the most of long weekends and luxury – busy working lives need regular relaxing weekends so definitely a meeting of minds. Based in Doha, a weekend getaway with Polly is normally a tad warmer than the UK!
Lucy’s photos are gorgeous – her instagram feed is definitely one to follow! I really enjoy this blog as she’s coming from the same thought process as me, fitting is as much travel and seeing new things as work will allow. Lucy introduced me to the #Take12Trips challenge with is so far proving a very enjoyable way to arrange my 2015 plans! Lucy has many great ideas for mini-break or staycation trips in Europe and the UK! Definitely a master at using time off wisely!
The clue is in the name of why I like this blog! There are some wonderful suggestions for luxury and unique travel around the world and the photography is just stunning! There is often something quirky on here or a suggestion for somewhere well off the beaten track that demands you put it on your beaten track! What I also like about this site is that it is just for reviews, Kathryn’s adventures are on another linked site if you need any more inspiration!! Watch out for a guest blog from me coming soon here!
Angie had luxury food and dining sorted – this website should be the go-to place if you need advice on where to eat, drink or stay in London as Silverspoon have it covered! With plenty of photos for everywhere visited and very honest appraisal of the places as well! I like that Angie’s main travel partner is Mr S and they have their plans sorted to work for them both! Very similar to the way Mr P and I travel – it is good to find a routine for exploring that works!
I have been pinning Noel’s posts like crazy recently – his photography is spectacular and on last Autumns European tour he visited many places that are on my list to visit, so the photos are great research! A picture tells a thousand words and so spending some time on this site is the easiest way to get a real feel for a place before booking a trip, or to add something to a bucket list!
As I was leaving a bloggers tea in London in January I met Manasi and as soon as I got home I had my first dive into her blog! I love how it is laid out (in fact I think we are on the same wordpress profile so of course I do) as it is really easily grouped to find what you are looking for! There is a flurry of reviews for food in London and UK visits which will definitely leave you feeling peckish!! Definitely proving that the 30’s are the best years – this will be a treasure trove after the full decade!
It’s a wonder I ever manage to get any book-reading done with just these few sources of travel inspiration at the touch of a finger!! I hope you enjoy them as much as me – an easy way to lose an afternoon and get plenty of inspiration for the year’s travel!
Great list Anna, full of familiar faces and blogs. It is very true that the travel niche is a supportive community. There’s plenty of inspiration here. Thanks 🙂

Thank you so much for including us, Anna! A lot of familiar names and faces here, and one or two that I didn’t know about, so I will enjoy having a read of those later. Thanks again… and sorry it’s my “fault”! 😉
