I thought I would make a note, now, of a hotel or a few… Travel has changed for us… I’m very happy about that, but one day we’ll want a weekend away and a few of these hotels seem truly family friendly…
For now, holidays are about family friendly facilities and about having space. And as the little boy grows, about having adventures. I’m not going to be one of those parents that I have long got disgruntled with… Making somewhere ‘family friendly’ that really isn’t… I don’t want people scowling over their kindles at us or us having to walk around on eggshells to not make that happen! If it’s the kind of place I would have invested in pre-baby for peace and relaxation then we won’t be taking a small child there… Expect more self-catering and AirBnB gems – the luxury of space, our own company, a kitchen and the ability to not annoy anyone else (or be shoved in a tiny corner kids pool despite paying the same amount for full resort access…)!!
So this hotel list is a mental note… And some pretty pictures… There isn’t much explaining needed why any one of these places we would love to visit!
Portuguese wine in a stunning modern location…

I’ve hunted for somewhere unique and remote since my first trip to Greece…
A remote and quiet mountain retreat…
A return to India that we cancelled when we found out Baby P was cooking nicely…
The place with the most amazing pool I have seen on Instagram…
The kind of resort that looks like it might actually be truly child friendly…
A quiet corner of Crete…
Beautiful views across the Andaman Islands, that one of our guides in India raved about…
Dreamy Thailand…
And a little of dreamy Sri Lanka…
To continue the love affair with Israel…
I think I have finally found somewhere for me in Santorini…
Remote island living in the Mediterranean…
A return to Oman and a trip into the mountains…
A new continent…
Some more wine country relaxing…
Hopping on from Singapore to somewhere a little more leisurely and remote…
An Atlas retreat…
Beachside remoteness far away from most things…
The depths of Namibia…
Or the coastline…
I am pretty taken by the Constance brand when it comes to Mauritius and the Maldives…
A winery come spa come hotel, yes please…
A return to Marrakesh…
And a trip out to Essaouira…
Dreamy pools and pine trees…
Somewhere that is always fully booked whenever I have a browse…
Another hidden gem in the French countryside…
A little bit further west into the Atlantic…

Further from home than I have been before…
Somewhere we almost went in 2012…
A relatively undiscovered part of Africa that we toyed with for honeymoon…
Island life in the grenadines…
Whilst we won’t be at any of these soon just the photos have me dreaming of a lifetime of adventure for our little family, whether it be near or far, luxury or rustic. I just need to refine my searching to find things for our new normal. For now, any adventure large or small is magical to a child and so for us it is magical too. (And we are starting next month with an all inclusive beach holiday… Had to be done, for this trip we need simple!!)
I’ve posted this as part of the travel linkup… I’m sure there’s many people breathing a sigh of relief I have taken a break from all things baby… It’s hard to when I don’t get a break from all things baby… It’s back to basics for January’s topic and bringing in the New Year with a bang – Travel Wishlists and plans for the year of adventures ahead (and perhaps even a few of your favourite 2018 travels?). Just pop your post up over the first week of the month (the 1st – 7th January 2019), add it to the link up widget found on Adventures of a London Kiwi, SilverSpoon London, Binnys Food and Travel Diaries from the 1st. As ever there are no real rules – basically all we ask is that you check out some of the other cool bloggers that are involved in that months travel link up; tweet a few of the posts out to your followers that you think they will love and make a few comments here and there. It really is a great way to meet some new travel bloggers and share some blogging joy!
I love reading people’s hotel wish lists!

😊 I decided I needed to write it down or I would entirely forget them!!
I have now added some of these to my wish list! Crete is somewhere I am thinking of for this year and gosh that hotel in Santorini looks dreamy!!

Glad to be of assistance 😂 There’s some amazing places I ‘need’ to visit… If you can get away from tourists then Crete is amazing, we had a hideaway in the hills last time and made a dawn raid to see the pink sand beach deserted, it’s gorgeous!
Wow all of these look so nice! I have to say that the Santorini photo is one of my favourite, it looks blissful! I wish you many of these to come 🙂

The Santorini place looks so hidden away in caves, love it!!
Wow this is an epic list! Certainly given me lots of inspiration – and sign me up for any and all infinity pools, you’re found some beauties!

There’s some amazing pictures! I think Ikos is, and then some of the small ones are happy to have kids but with most I think I would feel bad ruining the peace for others!!
Well these all look stunning and I would happily find myself at any of them – particularly the one in the Dolomites! I totally know what you mean about having a hotel list as a ‘mental note’. A lot of my listy blog posts are really just so I can remember all the places I want to travel to or return to!

Exactly… Don’t want to forget a gem I stumble across! I prefer this to check boxing stuff as these are special treats!
So many gorgeous places to choose – I’m always up for turquoise water and sunshine! Enjoy while baby is little and you can still have some grownup time as well!

So much gorgeous hotel inspiration here – I’m book marking this for future reference!

😊 happy to help!! Hours of nighttime scrolling put that list together!!
So many drool worthy hotels. I know Spinguera Ecolodge! I’ve had many a day dream about staying there but I’ve never been. It was featured on Boutique Travel Blog a few years ago.

I suspect that is where I saw it, I have been pinning things like a crazy lady for years and decided to make them into a formal list!!
Lots of gorgeous places, I see your eye for style hasn’t changed 🙂 You had me at the one in the Alentejo, I absolutely fell in love with that part of Portugal especially the rural hotels.

I can’t wait to explore that area… And the wine!!
Such a great selection of places! A few I’ll add to my wishlist too – hoping to get to the Dolomites this year so I’ll check out the Rosalpina.

Oooo have fun and I will be watching out for where you go!!
Now which one do you think especially caught my eye? The one with the Milky Way, of course, at Alila Jabal Akhdar Resort. What spectacular vistas by both day and night 🙂

Oh imagine what the night sky must be like out there! From your own private pool too!!
