Hands up anyone that struggled to buy hand sanitiser or anything anti-bacterial in the long early days of the pandemic when shopping for basics became a bit of a nightmare? Yes, all of us. We’d order xyz online in our supermarket shop and either it wouldn’t be available or it would be substituted for something inferior that smelt nasty. I gave up, we washed hands and we didn’t go out.
Thankfully now, there are places to look and I wish I had thought about Green People sooner. When they kindly sent me a couple of new products it was something of a eureka moment for me. Hand foam and sanitiser from one of my favourite companies really ticks all the boxes and I wish I had looked sooner!
The first of the bottles we were sent is the Hand Sanitiser for Kids. 100ml, £10, alcohol free. Key to product testing with children is that the child likes the product. Well – when we use this foam, our little one always asks for more. It got his approval right away. Using the alcoholic gels was always a bit peculiar for him as they’re so far removed from soap and water. And he loves to wash his hands. So the foam is a bit of fun – he can see it and he loves rubbing it in his hands and up his arms. Thankfully it smells good too given he puts it on every bit of skin!
It’s great out and about, which is increasingly important now we are allowed out of our homes, as the bottle is light weight and 100ml is enough to last a long while too. I’m finding it really useful at home, out in the garden or by the sink if he’s urgent for his ‘nacks’ (snacks) and I have no chance of fighting him to the sink! When we do eventually put our very brave pants on and dine out, we can use it to clean his high chair and table before use too! And we’re helping the environment as that means using less nasty un-recyclable wipes.
The second of the bottles was for us adults, although we’ve been using the kids one too. The brand new Deep Cleansing Hand Foam. Again 100ml, this time £11.50. This product is suggested as an alternative to soap, although it can also be used without needing to wash it off – which means it is really handy out and about too. I’ve noticed, given how much soap we use in this day and age, just how moisturising the foam is compared to the many types of soap I have tried in the past 150 days!
It’s scent is tea tree and orange peel and so it’s a nice citrus scent, similar but different to the kids one. Tea tree is actually an ingredient to help deal with germs, as it’s a natural anti-microbial. I haven’t used tea tree for years, this smells nice compared to the nasty oils from my teenage years!
I have long enjoyed Green People products and buy plenty of my own items as well as those that are gifted (suncream and baby balm, the latter is amazing on dry skin) . I am delighted if I spot them being sold somewhere we go. I remember much to the amusement of staff at the Bedruthan Hotel spotting them and being so pleased that they were selling them!
As always, Green People products are vegan, organic, socially responsible and cruelty free. Our little one is susceptible to dry skin and so it’s even better that their kids stuff is perfect for sensitive skin and eczema friendly. I’m also a fan of how well the kids stuff and adult stuff fits together, so often I can’t get for our toddler something from the same place I would for me.
Supporting smaller businesses in the current climate is so important. And when you find one that has great ethics and even better products it’s a no-brainer really. We absolutely love these two products and the kid-friendly foam sanitiser is a bit of a game-changer for us as we start to get out of the house again. I suspect it will have a little space in my day-bag for many years to come!
