Another quintessentially british day out – this time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This is an annual event near Chichester on a long and winding race track within the grounds of Goodwood House, known as the hill climb. Cars from different eras make timed runs up the track. It’s a good place to spot F1 drivers past and present.
We had a fantastic day out as guests of Landrover – my husband was the client and this was in the pre-recession entertaining days! The day was enjoyed!
Each year in front of the main house the title sponsor erects something fancy – Landrover went all out and I was rather taken by this structure! In fact we have many many versions of the same photo, but I think it looks best in black and white!
One real highlight of the day was when we were watching the cars from the balcony of Goodwood House and a display motorbike rider rode up the staircase and bounced around off the walls on the balcony, showing off his skills in very close quarters! Not something I had seen before or ever thought possible – but stunt riding is definitely exciting, especially when you can see the whites of the riders eyes and smell the exhaust fumes over the top of your glass of pimms!
We also were able to test out our Landrover hosts ‘car’ ability! Driving out of the estate our dear car got a puncture. Mr P probably could have sorted it out, but I wouldn’t have been a great help in a fancy dress and as the passenger, having had a few glasses of pimms! Thankfully our Landrover host was a whizz at this – we were back on the road again in minutes, just like a formula one pitstop. Definitely a good host!
