The final 31 pictures of project 365

I was excited about December!  Not only was it the end of my photo challenge, but I also didn’t need to get on a single plane!  For someone with a serious case of wanderlust and a love of staring out of plane windows looking at clouds, that was a clear sign that October and Novembers air miles extravaganza had been more than enough!  Great to have my feet firmly on the ground!

The month passed by rapidly, in a blur of work and too much of not feeling great.  I managed to miss all Christmas parties as a result, although the extra sleep I got probably did me the world of good! 2015 couldn’t have arrived at a better time!

Slowly through the month the decorations crept out and cluttered up the house!  I managed to restrain myself for a week before any sign of a tree arrived in the house, but at that point we had decided that both us and the house needed brightening up!  We got a gorgeous little tree from Waitrose – small and perfectly formed!  After the behemoth that we bought from CostCo last year (which didn’t actually fit to start with) this was much easy to locate in the house and decorate!

There weren’t many highlights to the month, but splashing around on Lepe Beach, near Calshot was a good day as was turning the lap top off for the last time on the 22nd.  The Christmas break from work seemed to last for so long, normally it feels rushed, but this year not so – and I even had to review a 150 page annual report and didn’t begrudge that one bit!  Over Christmas we completed a triangular tour of England!  First we were down to Cornwall, to stay at my Gran’s house with my parents – lovely family time! We also had a lovely day out in Mousehole to see the Christmas lights (and enjoy another fantastic meal at the Old Coastguard).

After Cornwall it was onwards to Cheshire to stay with Mr P’s parents for a few days!  We travelled the day after all the snow had ground the country’s roads to a halt (for once the trains could not blame their failure on weather…) and it took us 9 hours to make a 4.5 hour trip.  Incredibly uncomfortable and tiring.  We had a spot of frozen fog near the end of the trip which wasn’t pleasant, but thankfully Mr P’s father had been out gritting their road on the edge of the Peak District, which meant we could still get through!  We played in the snow a fair bit, although it was bitterly cold, so actually – looking at it through the window with a warm mug of tea in hand was enough!  We also went to an animal farm en route to a pub lunch – the guano/alpaca in the photo above gave me a fright, I was looking the other way and it appeared at eye level out of nowhere!

End of the month and we’re glad to be home in our own bed after a lovely few days with family.  Not the end of the year we had wanted, but Mr P is a genius and stocked up on my favourite dairy-free bit of comfort food.

Here’s to 2015 – I won’t be missing taking these daily photos and I’m looking forward to it immensely.  I have loved this TS Eliot quote since my school leavers service “What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start”.

Here’s to a magical 2015.

What an incredible end to 2014 – cheers to 2015! Do you think you’ll ever do another 365 project? It makes you look at the world differently doesn’t it?
