Cornwall I am on my way

Hurrah – a long weekend in Cornwall, I am on my way!  5 hours on a train is absolutely worth it!  Next stop Penzance!  I’m not sure the weather is going to be quite what I was hoping for – but no matter, time off in Cornwall is always good!  Perhaps no sundowners though…!!

Tonight we are camping in a field in Marazion!  Mr P has been camping all week at a sailing event and I said 1 night in a tent would be just fine!  Lucky me! Looking forward to catching up with friends more than the camping aspect to be fair!  The last time we camped was at a sailing event in Weymouth and that field didn’t have a port-a-loo, so this field is a serious upgrade as it does!  Add to that – Mr P invested in a new camping stove so I’m hoping for tea in bed – failing that, he’ll need to head off to Penzance for McDonalds breakfast!

After 1 night in the tent we are upgrading significantly and staying at The Old Coastguard, in Mousehole.  We had to delay these plans from Christmas when I was full of flu, so its been a long time coming!  We’ve eaten with them before, but never stayed!  Very excited!  I’m a big fan of restaurants with rooms and this looks to be another cracking example!

One of the main reasons for me to be travelling to Cornwall on this occasion is to visit my grandparents but it is a long way to go to not pop on the walking boots and enjoy some of the beautiful coastline!  Cornwall undoubtedly has some of the most beautiful and unspoilt locations in the country and it seems like an age since we last enjoyed in (despite it only being October last year!)

Cornwall also has – clotted cream and pasties and camel valley vineyard!  Two of my favourite foods and my absolute favourite fizz!  Happy to remain loyal to my ancestry!  Sadly the no-dairy diet means clotted cream is out (although I wonder if Rodda’s have thought about keeping a herd of goats?) and I’ll need to carefully pick which pasty to go for (although to be fair most pastry in Cornwall is lard based).  As for the fizz – well it’s a given!

This sounds wonderful (except maybe the camping, but it’s workable for a night)!

As long as the loo is still in service… It might have washed away in the mud by now… As for the snails and slugs that are probably trying to get into tent! Roll on tomorrow at the old coastguard!!

I’m totally up for that cream tea; as they say when in Rome! I haven’t gone camping in years; fingers crossed the weather is kind to you both. Enjoy Cornwall and catching up with your friends and family x

That’s great that you got to go visit your grandparents and family. What beautiful coastlines and beaches. Thanks for linking up this week to #WeekendWanderlust

It really is stunning – and if you put your walking boots on and get away from the main sites, you’ll have a beach to yourselves! Better than the Maldives and 5 hours from London!

Can I please recommend you go to beerwolf books for a drink and to browse the books! Clever idea!

What a beautiful place! It looks very relaxing. I’d love to hear about what non-dairy treats you found there if any – we’re both vegan and don’t eat dairy or eggs, and would be nice to know if you found any treats without animal products in them (no lard either!). Thank you so much for linking up with #WeekendWanderlust! Hope to see you again next week 🙂

I did notice a gluten free deli/restaurant in Mousehole… and we ate at the Old Coastguard and the kitchen was more than flexible with altering dishes. you might miss out on the pasties and cream teas in cornwall, but if you focus on the camel valley wine instead, they its still a Cornish luxury!

I love Cornwall so much, I can totally see why you enjoy going there! I could eat some clotted cream ice-cream right now! The hotel you are stopping in sounds quality! Great photos too, you capture the beauty of the scenery really well
