I love photos. Taking them and looking at them. I take photos to remember special places, events and experiences. I can spend hours looking through them. And I write my blog to capture the details or anecdotes: a modern scrap book or photo album so I forget nothing. I also love to read.
Like mother like son…
Baby P loves his story books and pawing at the pictures on the pages as I read them excitedly to him. (Side note – he’s also happier feeding if I am reading my kindle not scrolling my phone). Baby P loves looking and smiling at himself (and us) in the mirror whenever he’s given a chance. He’s also mastered selfies and eye contact in photos.
So whilst he’s (still) a bit too young to appreciate the blog I’ve found the perfect alternative to capture the memories of a baby blogger, photographer, bookworm or scrap book maker…
He absolutely loves his first album and staring at himself on the pages!
It’s a gorgeous product made by mothers, so be assured it’s something (staring at themselves) babies actually want… Just slot a few photos and words into the online template and they’ll learn and recognise themselves and others as they read. Speaking of the mothers, the customer service (as well as the hand stitching) is second to none and the product was tested (for safety and fun) on their children first!
It’s a fabric book – and since it can be washed it can really be “read” by a baby! Unlike other books, I am happy to leave him playing with it as a bit of dribble or milk doesn’t matter in the slightest and he can’t rip the pages! He’s getting used to turning (mauling) the pages, staring at images and hopefully starting to create his own memories. The images are excellent quality.
Our book has five picture pages that are paired with five pages of words to explain the pictures. As this was his first 1st, we kept it simple with pictures of him when he was born, with us, with his grandparents and of course his first gorgeous smile caught on camera. The words are big and clear so in time we can start to read and recognise them too.

There will be more 1st albums… As I continually keep this blog and compile his formal baby book, he can collect a little library of treasure albums to play with too. His first holiday, his first Christmas, his first birthday… We already have over 10,000 photos so there’s plenty he can look at without going near a smart phone screen!
My book was gifted but I am only ever interested in something I would buy myself. I work hard and buy wisely. And buy I will. Books are £25 and worth every penny. Easy to create, it’s a simple website with a handy preview and upload function. Delivery is quick too, and the book will fit through your letter box. There are a number of other products including a slightly longer book, bunting, comforters or vouchers. Photos can be in colour or black and white.
I love finding something different and unique like this. Especially that my little one can enjoy and treasure. We can put all the pictures we want on the wall but My 1st Photos appeals far better to a baby’s need to touch, feel and taste!
I’ve never seen this before. Such a gorgeous idea!

They really are gorgeous – I love ours as much as the baby!
