January – it gives me the blues…. I don’t see much daylight in January as it is one of THE busiest months an accountant will have! So when I woke up early today and could see the sun creeping round the edge of the blind, that was it! My husband and I were up and out of bed, dressed in warm clothes, powered by coffee and were in the car and heading out across the New Forest. Today we went to Lepe, which is just past Calshot and Fawley – but thankfully a world away in other senses!! Incredibly I had never been here before, glad to say I have now visited – and really liked it! Tanners Lane just along the coast is still my favourite, but this is a great place for a beach stroll!
We were some of the first people to arrive – it was so peaceful and pretty! By the time we had finished our walk it was busy in the car park like a summers day, everyone else had had their lie in, looked out the window and decided a beach visit was needed!
Some very happy dogs, glad to be outside in the dry and warm! My face has got the glow of having been in the sun and it wasn’t even cold!!
Lots of these yellow markers, we assumed they must by ship transits for Fawley which is just round the corner, but I think they mark gas pipelines that run through the nature reserve…?
I think it would be a great picnic spot in the summer, plenty of beach space!
Quite an exciting day – new wellies for Christmas and this was their first outing! Thank goodness there has been so much rain to put them to the test!!
We should really have taken a flask of tea with us, it was warm enough if the sunshine to just sit and enjoy the view. Incredibly we only saw 2 yachts out in the Solent – it would have made a stunning sailing day, although the wind was a little light, even in my book!
We didn’t like to interrupt and ask what exactly they were hoping to see, but I am guessing it wasn’t a duck! There were about 20 of them in total and more arriving as we got back to the car park!
Sam love his history, so he was delighted to have a board of WW2 information. I didn’t realise that some of the landing boats left for Normandy from here. There is still a lot of the concrete and dock structures remaining.
I love photos of still water and perfect reflections! You could actually see salt around the edges of this puddle, so this must be sea water that has come up over the sea defences in the recent storms, rather than rain water?
It doesn’t take long outside in the sunshine for the January blues to be forgotten!

Beautiful pics, and you had sunshine! I hope it dries out some of that rain I hear you have been having at home…

Lovely photos (and wellies :-). It’s so great to live close to the beach and use these run January sunny days to enjoy the walks.

It looks a tad chilly but beautiful! Definitely one of the things I miss about this time of year, it really is beautiful in winter too and you can enjoy being outside (when there’s no snowstorm haha). Yay for sun in January!

No snow yet this year, rare compared to recent years!! Can’t imagine it being warm at this time of year (although jealous at the same time!!)

I love that photo with the fence a lot. I’m surprised you’re even doing anything besides working this month. My whole dad’s side of the family are accountants and they eat, breathe, and live work during January.

Looks like a fun place! I love stomping in puddles myself. Are those people with the cameras and binoculars bird watchers? I hate it when I can see people are looking at or waiting for something exciting, and I can’t tell what that something is. 😛
